REPORT OF THE

NCAA DIVISION I MEN’S AND WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD COMMITTEE

 

 

INFORMATIONAL ITEM.

 

·               Progress report concerning outdoor track and field championship format.  During the recent indoor track and field championships, the committee discussed the cabinet’s request for an update regarding a long-term solution to outdoor track and field regional alignment issues.  The committee welcomed the opportunity to discuss the topic further and considered the Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet input valuable to the process.  As a result, the committee approved the formulation of a study group with the following composition:

Craig Poole, Brigham Young University

Judy Rose, University of North Carolina, Charlotte

Sam Seemes, United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association

Val Sheley, University of South Carolina

The study group is scheduled to convene via teleconference in May and June.  More information concerning the group’s progress will be communicated to the cabinet following the initial meetings.
